The Capital of Contrasts audio tour runs about 2.5 hours at a relaxed pace, covering Helsinki’s central highlights. You set the speed, so it’s as long as you make it. You can also speed up or slow down the audio – just like with audiobooks.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Download it before you set off and it works without a data connection — perfect for cruise and layover visitors avoiding roaming charges.
What if it rains?
Helsinki is a rain-or-shine city, and so are my tours. Bring weather-appropriate clothing; the audio tour is available whenever you are, and I promise I don’t melt.
Can I do it on a cruise stop or layover?
That’s exactly what it’s built for — the tour starts at Senate Square, right in the heart of the city, and public transport reaches it from every terminal. The regular ferries dock at Länsisatama, Olympiaterminaali and Katajanokka; the big international liners come in at Hernesaari.
Hernesaari is the farthest out, so allow about an hour each way by public transport. A taxi is quicker — Uber, Bolt, Taksi Helsinki and Taksi Menevä all operate here, and the drive is roughly 15–25 minutes depending on traffic.
Flying in with time to spare? The airport train is your best bet — it runs about every 20 minutes from 4.30am to 1.15am, takes a Helsinki Region Transport Authority (HSL) zone ABC ticket (a single is under €5 and valid for 80 minutes), and drops you at the Central Railway Station, a 15-minute walk from Senate Square. Prefer a taxi? Expect about €40 and roughly 30 minutes to Senate Square, depending on traffic.
